2008 Tennis Experiences

With 2008 coming to a close, we've all had lots of experiences.....good, bad, ugly, exciting, funny and more......over the past twelve months. We want to hear about either one (or several) of your own or ones you watched or heard of. This applies to all tennis.... junior, adult, team, tournaments. Keep the memories rolling and let 'er rip!

2008 was a FUN tennis year!!! I watched exciting events unfold- a very funny Wyatt Miller chunk his racquet two courts over, Guy Gilliland choke his only singles loss of the year, a local attorney actually make a line call in his opponents favor, Robert Cain make a correct close line call, the legendary Hugh Thomson play in his full length, white tennis attire, the NCAA champion lose in the finals of a prize money event, a very tanned girl threaten to whoop a** at a petite blonde player, and many other hilarious moments.

I have played doubles with Robert Cain numerous times, and he has always been fair in his judgment calls.I can't believe anyone would make such a biased claim such as this!!!!!!!!

I just wish tennis was played like it was meant to be played. . .for fun! No one is going to the US Open and some matches have gotten to be really ugly! Here's to a happier 2009!

Funny how time flies. In 2008 a young lady told me that she took lessons from the one and only Buddy Bowman years ago when he was fresh out of college, muscular and tanned, with this Tom Selleck mustache. The young ladies would swoon all around him. Tom Selleck?

I couldn't agree more 12/30 10:52 poster! Personally I had some really wonderful moments in 2008 but the bad calls, catty comments and seriousness of some was unbelievable. I'm hoping as well that 2009 will be a year where those who take it to extremes and spoil the fun for others have a wakeup call!

Ha! That is so funny! My precious husband Robert Cain made a correct line call! HA! To that person that left that blog...what was your score? You must have lost really bad!!! I am so sorry! I guess you want charity so you can win...why don't you do a rematch and I will tell him to make no calls whatsoever...to play every ball! I would put money down that he would still kick your a#*!!!

Robert is a great player. He even got his name on the LRAC wall for winning open singles in '08. Andrea has made tremendous strides in her game. Her style of play reminds me of Kim Buckner's game.

So nice to hear positive comments such as the above...we should stick together as tennis players and help one another out. It is nice to hear positive news instead of all this negativity. We need to learn a lesson that life is too short to be so caddy. Everyone has made a bad line call in their day and everybody has been talked about too...so keep up the positive attitudes and praise your fellow tennis players who are doing well and quit tearing them down. The good news is that we will all WIN some matches (and yes to people we shouldn't win to) and we will all lose matches (also to people we shouldn't lose to)! So just stay strong and keep on playing and please, please, please say 10 positive comments TODAY...it makes you feel better!!

I couldn't agree more Andrea. How can tennis be so much fun with all this negativity? Life is drama enough that's for sure.

I agree too Andrea! Tennis should be fun and filled with great memories! I am not up this late usually but we need to load up the new topic with good stuff so that last blog filled with negative blasts is overlooked. I'm going to start to write tomorrow about some of the many good memories I've had and keep my focus on that! We need to stay together as fellow tennis players and be competitive but also friends. Thank you for making everyone aware. You are always so thoughtful!
